Lyrics - 3rd Choice: The Pigeon Detectives - I'm a liar

I can't help thinking of you
Since you came into view
But I've tryed

Other boys do the same
Girl you drive them insame
With desire

Just like a bird in my hand
It will all go to plan
I'm a liar

I can't help thinking of you
Since you came into view
But I've tryed

Ba ba ba badaba ba ba ba badaba
I only came here 'cause i hear that you drink here darlin'
Ba ba ba badaba ba ba ba badaba
I only came here 'cause i hear that you drink here darlin'

Although I don't know your name
I could love you just the same
For tonight

And like a flash in your panel
I will take what I can
If that's alright

I still don't know how I feel
The words I use are words I steal

Ba ba ba badaba ba ba ba badaba
I only came here 'cause i hear that you drink here darlin'
Ba ba ba badaba ba ba ba badaba
I only came here 'cause i hear that you drink here darlin'

Ba ba ba badaba ba ba ba badaba
I only came here 'cause i hear that you drink here darlin'
Ba ba ba badaba ba ba ba badaba
I only came here 'cause i hear that you drink here darlin'

Lyrics - 2nd Choice: The Macabees - Wall of Arms

I woke up with a loved one's eyes upon me
Loved one's arms around me
Oh...She's my one and only

I grew up in the bosom of my family
Eight strong arms around me
Oh...from the seed they've grown me

And I thank those
Those who kept me company
They are a wall of arms around me
Oh...it is they who are my army
Oh… it is they who are my army

Through these eyes
There's no god above me
No devil below me
No purgatory, no pearly gates
The worms are what await me
It's only me that can forgive me and
I have faith, oh...I have faith
I have faith, oh...I have faith
In those who put up with me

She's my one and only
If I'm the seed they've grown me
They who are my army
The wall of arms around me

Lyrics - 1st Choice: Arctic Monkeys - Mardy Bum

Well now then Mardy Bum
I've seen your frown
And it's like looking down the barrel of a gun
And it goes off
And out come all these words
Oh there's a very pleasant side to you
A side I much prefer
It's one that laughs and jokes around
Remember cuddles in the kitchen
Yeah, to get things off the ground
And it was all up, up and away
Oh, but it's right hard to remember, yeah
On a day like today when you're all argumentative
And you've got the face on

Well now then Mardy Bum
Oh I'm in trouble again, aren't I
I thought as much
Cause you turned over there
Pulling that silent disappointment face
The one that I can't bear

Why can't we just laugh and joke around
Remember cuddles in the kitchen
Yeah, to get things off the ground
And it was up, up and away
Oh, but it's rate hard to remember, yeah
On a day like today when you're all argumentative
And you've got the face on

And yeah I'm sorry I was late
but I missed the train
And then the traffic was a state
And I can't be arsed to carry on in this debate
That reoccurs, oh when you say I don't care
but of course I do, yet I clearly do,yeah!

So laugh and joke around
Remember cuddles in the kitchen
Yeah, to get things off the ground
And it was up, up and away
Oh, but it's rate hard to remember, yeah
On a day like today when you're

Initial Music Video Research/ Ideas

After browsing on Youtube for various different types of music videos, i found that there were some small elements of each videos that i found to be quite interesting and engaging. There are generally 3 types of music video; Narrative, Performance, and Abstract. I personally found narrative the most interesting of the three, as i thought that telling a story can engage the audience in the video just as much as the music. I believe that narrative music videos are better when the action isn't following the lyrics of the song word for word; i think this comes across quite 'cheesey' at times. From the narrative music videos i viewed, i found that this was quite common, therefore making it quite a generic and predictable element of a narrative music video. I found that one video i watched, which incorporated the band performing in a bar, had very interesting shots which matched key beats in the music. When you initially watch the first 30 odd seconds of the video, as a viewer, you instantly think you know where it is going-a band simply being filmed in a bar. But the video then engages the audience as they begin to get bored by including this quirky shots, where shots are rewinded and played again, in time with the music. Although this is quite a small element of the music video, it proves to be very effective and creatively different.
In contrast, the ideas for the video by 'Ok go', which is footage of the band performing a choreographed routine on treadmills, proves to be effective and creatively different in a different way. In this video editing isn't used as cleverly, as the video is literally one static shot, not of particularly high quality, which just makes the audience focus on the routine.
