Music Video - Focus Group Audience Feedback

For my focus group, I am going to use my form group, as they are within the age bracket of my groups TA, and it also happens to be quite convenient, as I meet with them every morning. Also, my form group isn't that large in numbers, and I would say is probably the appropriate size for a focus group. I have plans to hold my focus group during a form time, I will show my form group the music video-and maybe film their reactions when watching it, and if any surprise me, I shall keep them in the footage. After they have viewed the video, I will then ask them the 7 questions we composed, and record there answers. When asking them these questions, some comments may arise which could potentially trigger me to ask other unplanned, but relevant, questions that will relate back to the video. I think that happenings such as this are what are the bonuses of focus groups; because sometimes, in focus groups, if you try to just ask a question, receive one answer and move on, your not going to get as good responses as you could potentially get. Whereas, if you asked other spontaneous questions that you thought of on the spot, and that sparked discussion and debate, you will find yourself, and your focus group generating more of an intellectual conversation, and as a result you will be benefitting more from the indepth feedback your receiving. Also, if you don't try to create discussion and debate, your defeating the object of holding a focus group by not doing so.
I think i will most likely arrange to have my focus group on Monday morning (31st Jan), or if not, an alternative morning next week. From my focus group, I want to gather a clear understanding of how well my group have targeted our audience, and whether it was enjoyable for the audience to watch. I want to see what they see as the best element of the video, and elements of it they think could have been better, or could be/have been improved. My main aims for the focus group are really to see whether they think the video is of a high quality, whether it complimented the music well, whether they enjoyed watching it and, also, if it held their attention for the entire time. Gaining positive and useful criticism from this focus group is really important, and their comments will be highly valued since they are in the age bracket of our TA.
After i have watched back the footage of the focus group, I will use comments and quotes as proof of varying feedback from our audience; and will also put a copy of the footage on the blog if possible. If any particular comments stick out to me in the footage that someone may have said, then I will most likely comment on them myself; doing an analysis of why they may have said this, and whether i agree with them or not-and also, if it was negative feedback, what could have been done to prevent a negative look on the video, or particular element.
